McHappy Day in Uxbridge and Port Perry

Cheers to another successful McHappy Day here in Uxbridge and Port Perry!

This year, on May 10th, Uxbridge and Port Perry raised over $51,000 for McHappy Day! Thanks to everyone’s strong support – this marks the most successful year to date!

Every year on McHappy Day, McDonald’s® donates a portion of all the items purchased from the menu throughout the whole day to help families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities. On average each year, RMHC saves Canadians $48.3M in out-of-pocket expenses like food and accommodation while they are caring for their sick child. RMHC helps over 26,000 families in Canada stay together every year!

Here’s a few stories to share from Courtney, the McHappy Day Event Coordinator for Uxbridge and Port Perry:

“At the Uxbridge restaurant a family with two small children stopped by for lunch – they had been staying at RMHC Toronto while their youngest was at Sick Kids. Two weeks earlier she had rung the bell that she was officially cancer free!”

“At the Port Perry restaurant a lady had stopped by and she was not able to make a donation due to one of her children being ill and money was tight. Thankfully she was speaking to one of the members from Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity who got to pull her over so that they could talk about how JACC could help her.”

Donations to the RMHC can be made all year round, helping families stay together. To learn more about RMHC & Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity or to make a donation visit https://www.rmhccanada.ca/ or https://jenash.org/.

Thanks to everyone in the community from local businesses, staff and guest volunteers, who came out to show their support!

See you next year!
